Privacy notice

Last updated October 26, 2026

Signal Lab is operated by TGthms. This notice describes how the browser app handles information. Contact contact.timg@icloud.com with privacy questions.

What happens on your device

The app processes your messages, selected files, recordings and microphone input in your browser. Its application code does not send that content to a Signal Lab server. You choose whether to enable the microphone, copy text, save a file or import a recording. Saved files remain wherever you choose to save them.

The receive log is held in the current tab’s memory and is cleared when you reload or close it. While listening, the app keeps up to 30 seconds of microphone audio in memory for diagnostics. You can save it yourself as a WAV; it can remain in memory after listening stops, until a new listening session or page reload. Your browser may retain downloaded files or clipboard contents separately.

Theme and receiver sensitivity preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage. You can remove them by clearing site data in your browser. The app requests its own files and bundled location directory from the hosting service.

Hosting and network data

Signal Lab is available through GitHub Pages and a Cloudflare-hosted site. When you open a copy of the site, the host serving that address receives the network request. GitHub says it logs visitors’ IP addresses for security. Cloudflare may process connection and request information, such as IP address, to provide and protect its services. These providers have their own practices; see the GitHub Pages documentation, GitHub privacy statement, and Cloudflare privacy policy.

TGthms has not enabled Cloudflare Web Analytics or other analytics for the Cloudflare-hosted site. The app’s source does not include a third-party analytics script. Hosting providers may still process request information for their services.

Browser speech and outside links

If you choose spoken playback, Signal Lab passes the announcement text to your browser’s speech-synthesis feature. The browser, operating system or selected voice provider determines whether that feature uses an online service. Check their privacy information before speaking sensitive text. Links to outside sites open services with their own privacy practices.

Sound and confidentiality

Messages sent as sound are not encrypted or authenticated. Anyone or anything able to capture the sound may be able to decode it. Avoid transmitting confidential information in a setting where others may hear or record it.

Contact and changes

If you email TGthms, your email provider and TGthms’s email provider process your message to deliver and handle it. Contact contact.timg@icloud.com with questions. We will update this notice if the app, hosting or data practices change.
